Cebu Pacific receives its first A330neo

The Philippine airline Cebu Pacific took delivery of its first Airbus A330neo on November, 28 directly from the European aerospace industry giant. A newly built aircraft has made it more than 6,000 nautical miles to its new home base in Manila. The journey took about 14 hours.

New jet specs and routes

The plane features an all-economy 459-seat layout. According to the airline, an aircraft is planned to be operated on trunk routes within the Philippines and Asia and on long-haul services to Australia and the Middle East.

The CEB's chief about getting a new jet

Alex Reyes, Chief Strategy Officer at Cebu Pacific, commented on the event:

"Cebu Pacific's first A330neo brings us closer to our target of having an all-Neo fleet by 2027 and shows our commitment to making air travel accessible while ensuring environmental and social sustainability".

"We believe that growth and sustainability are not mutually exclusive and should in fact be inclusive if we want to work towards the greater good. This is why we will always choose the greener options - increased aircraft efficiency, reduced noise, and carbon emissions, to ensure that more low fares will be available for every Juan" - the manager added.

The low-cost carrier's fleet

All in all Cebu Pacific ordered 16 Airbus A330neo. Furthermore, the airline has 16 A320neo, 12 A321neo, and 10 A321XLR to be delivered. As the company informed earlier, these 16 A330neos cost US$4.8B and are scheduled for delivery between 2021 and 2024. The low-cost carrier consists of principally Airbus fleet: A320 and A330 family.

A new aircraft is set to enter service next month. Currently, Cebu Pacific has one of the youngest fleets in the world and covers 33 domestic routes along with 12 international destinations.
