United Airlines starts flying to Tenerife

An American carrier United Airlines launched direct flights between New York City and Spanish Tenerife (Canary islands), for the non-stop service company deployed Boeing 757-200 aircraft.

From Newark to the Canary islands

As covid restrictions abate and the summer is picking up, air companies broaden their leisure destination network. On June 9, Tenerife South Airport (TFS) welcomed the United Airlines inaugural flight from Newark Liberty International (EWR). Currently, this is the only nonstop service between the Canaries and the North American continent. United offers three weekly flights on Boeing 757-200 with 169 seats: 153 in economy class, including 45 Economy Plus seats with more space, and 16 flat-bed seats in business class.

The new service started June 9

The flights will be operated from June 09 until September 30, 2022, according to the following schedule:

  • flight UA 248 departs from Newark (EWR) at 09:40 PM and arrives at Tenerife South (TFS) at 09:45 AM +1
  • flight UA 249 departs from Tenerife South (TFS) at 12:00 PM and arrives at Newark (EWR) at 02:55 PM

United Airlines expansion

This new Tenerife route is part of the company's Iberian expansion. Currently, United Airlines have services between Newark and the two largest Spanish cities Madrid and Barcelona. Also, recently was added a seasonal flight to Palma de Mallorca. Since pandemic recovery, United Airlines have resumed/launched more than 30 European destinations.
